AMS Osram Launches 110µm Small Aperture Surface Mount EEL to Enhance Industrial Automation Applications

        Amess Osram (AMS: AMS), a leading global optical solutions provider, today announced the launch of a small-aperture, compact surface-to-mount laser SPL S1L90H_3, adding to its EEL portfolio. The laser provides enhanced performance in lidar and long-range industrial ranging applications and makes optical integration simpler.
 
 
        The SPL S1L90H_3 is one of the first surface mount edge-emitting lasers with apertures as low as 110µm. The small aperture allows applications to produce narrow beams, and the 905nm IR technology is optimized for short pulse LIDAR applications.
        The single-channel SPL S1L90H_3 features Ahmers Osram's multi-junction technology, consisting of three vertically stacked emitters in a single laser die mounted in the device's 2.3mm x 2.0mm x 0.69mm package, allowing the laser to produce 65W of peak output power.
        These features allow the product to better illuminate target areas at a distance in ranging, 3D optical sensing and instant location and map building (SLAM) applications, and can play an important role in products such as drones and robots, as well as in building and factory automation equipment.
