Infineon Technologies has been the market leader in MEMS microphones for three consecutive years. According to a recent study published by professional research firm Omdia, Infineon's share of the microphone bare die manufacturing market increases to a staggering 45% by 2022. Infineon's deep experience in the design and mass production of MEMS microphones is helping its customers to create an unparalleled experience for consumers, thus achieving this impressive result.

Infineon's MEMS microphone development strategy covers the main building blocks of MEMS, ASICs, and packages for this sensor family. Infineon is therefore in full control of the performance, quality, and technical innovation of its products. Today, Infineon is launching its latest XENSIV MEMS microphone, an ultra-low power digital microphone, the IM69D128S, based on its technology.
This microphone is designed for applications requiring high SNR/low self-noise, long battery life, and high reliability. Its excellent 69 dB(A) SNR delivers crystal clear sound quality without compromising battery life. With its advanced digital microphone ASIC, the IM69D128S sets a new benchmark in terms of power consumption: 520 uA, which is only half the power consumption of similar products on the market.
In addition, switching between different power and performance levels often results in abnormal noise (i.e. a harsh sound that can be heard by the user), which is perfectly avoided by the IM69D128S. This PDM (Pulse Density Modulation) microphone is capable of achieving up to IP57 protection on the semiconductor element, thanks to Infineon's latest sealed dual-diaphragm MEMS technology.
The ultra-low power IM69D128S is ideal for audio applications where battery life is critical, such as true wireless headsets, headphones, and hearing enhancement devices. In addition, its small size and high performance make it suitable for space-critical applications such as wearable devices, smartphones, and IoT devices.
