Chipmaker SK Hynix has relocated its global sales and marketing team, known internally as GSM, from Incheon to Seoul, according to a foreign media report yesterday.
Sources said SK Hynix moved the team to Seoul because it is easier to meet foreign customers, easier to hire employees, and because of a lack of space at its Incheon headquarters.

The company also split its procurement team into a front-end team and a back-end team in order to strengthen the procurement of parts and equipment used in the back-end of chip production.
SK Hynix posted its largest-ever quarterly loss in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2022, driven by weak demand and oversupply in the global chip market.
The company posted an operating loss of 1.7 trillion won in the quarter, compared with a profit of 4.2 trillion won a year earlier, marking its first quarterly operating loss since the third quarter of 2012.
