Infineon Introduces 12 A and 20 A Synchronous Buck Regulators with Built-in Fast COT Architecture for DC-DC POL Applications

        Modern power systems require efficient and compactly designed regulators. To meet this challenge, Infineon has launched the TDA388xx family for the server, AI, datacom, telecom and storage markets. The latest 12 A and 20 A synchronous buck regulators use a fast constant on-time (COT) control mode to optimize performance. This approach ensures fast transient response, minimizes the number of passive components and saves board space. The regulators are versatile and stable over a wide input voltage range from 4.0 V to 16 V, and can be further extended in a variety of DC-DC application scenarios with an external bias supply. Infineon's new TDA388xx family of regulators offers a major leap forward in terms of power system efficiency and design compactness.
 
 
        The TDA388xx family consists of four buck regulators (TDA38812, TDA38813, TDA38825 and TDA38826), all of which feature unique internal compensation, which not only improves ease of use but also reduces the need for external semiconductor components. The series features a versatile design for a wide range of applications and offers selectable switching frequencies and soft-start capability. With programmable current limiting, these regulators enable precise control and support fixed frequency continuous conduction mode (FCCM) and discontinuous conduction mode (DCM). In addition, the TDA388xx family of regulators enables voltage tracking via an external reference input. This flexibility is essential to meet different power system requirements. Together, these features enhance the adaptability and efficiency of this regulator product family. 
        One of the key features of the TDA388xx product family is the built-in protection features, including pre-biased startup and thermally compensated current limiting, as well as over-voltage protection (OVP) and under-voltage protection (UVP), to ensure system safety even in the event of a fault. And, for added safety, Infineon has also added a thermal shutdown function to the TDA388xx product family. The product family is available in ROHS-compliant QFN-21 packages and is able to operate efficiently over a temperature range of -40°C to 125°C. The TDA388xx is also available with a thermal shutdown function in a ROHS-compliant QFN-21 package. With these features, the TDA38825/26/12/13 are particularly suitable for demanding power system environments.
        The TDA388xx family is available in a standard QFN-21 (3 mm x 4 mm) package and is available for ordering now.
