Infineon Technologies AG now introduces the newest product in the family, the EZ-USB™ FX10, a semiconductor device that provides high-speed connectivity via USB 10Gbps and LVDS interfaces, with a total bandwidth increase of up to three times compared to the previous generation.
The EZ-USB™ FX10 features dual ARM® Cortex®-M4 and M0+ core CPUs, 512 KB of Flash, 128 KB of SRAM, 128 KB of ROM, and seven Serial Communications Blocks (SCBs), as well as a cryptographic gas pedal and a high-bandwidth data subsystem. The high-bandwidth data subsystem enables Direct Memory Access (DMA) data transfers of up to 10 Gbps between the LVDS/LVCMOS and USB ports and is supported by 1 MB of SRAM for buffering USB data. The peripheral controller features USB-C connector orientation detection and flip-flop multiplexing, eliminating the need for external logic. The full-featured EZ-USB™ FX10 is ideal for developers who need a powerful and adaptable USB controller.
The EZ-USB™ FX10 helps optimize BOM (bill of materials) costs due to the small PCB area required. Its 10 x 10 mm² BGA package is ideal for space-constrained applications. It also simplifies the design process by supporting direct USB-C connectivity and eliminating the need for high-speed signal multiplexers. Its quick-start development kit includes easy-to-integrate firmware and configuration tools, and the EZ-USB™ FX10 DVK (development kit) comes with a standard FPGA mezzanine card (FMC) connector that easily connects to the field-programmable gate array (FPGA) board, as well as an all-in-one programming and debugging accessory board. The controller comes with a comprehensive set of application notes for hardware and software design, enabling developers to create high-performance devices for a wide range of applications.
The EZ-USB™ FX10 was officially announced at the International Imaging Technology and Equipment Expo (ITE 2023) on December 6 in Yokohama, Japan. The EZ-USB™ FX10 peripheral controller in a 10 x 10 mm² BGA package will be available in the fourth quarter of 2024, with engineering samples currently available.
