To improve the accuracy of junction temperature sensing, Infineon Technologies AG introduces the new CoolMOS™ S7T product family with integrated temperature sensor. By integrating this family of semiconductors into a system, the durability, safety and efficiency of many electronic applications can be improved. The CoolMOS™ S7T, with its excellent on-resistance and high accuracy embedded sensor, is ideally suited to improve the performance and reliability of Solid State Relay (SSR) applications.

SSRs are an essential configuration for a wide range of electronic devices, and by being able to integrate the sensor and the superjunction MOSFET into the same package, customers can reap multiple benefits. Infineon's innovative solution improves the performance of relays and enables them to operate reliably even under overload conditions. The integrated temperature sensor offers up to 40 percent better accuracy and 10 times faster response time than a standard stand-alone on-board sensor on the drain, as well as higher reliability due to the fact that the monitoring process can be performed individually within a multi-device system.
The CoolMOS™ S7T optimizes the use of power transistors, which in turn improves output stage performance and enables precise control. It reduces total power dissipation by up to twice that of electromechanical relays and is more than five times more efficient than current solid-state triac solutions. The increased efficiency and ability to handle higher loads helps reduce power consumption and energy costs.
Unique output stage performance coupled with a significant overcurrent threshold improves relay reliability, minimizing the risk of failure and downtime. This robust switching solution also improves operational safety. With higher robustness, the MOSFETs extend the life of the relays and reduce the frequency of replacement. All of these benefits ultimately translate into lower maintenance costs. engineering samples and starter kits of the CoolMOS S7T TOLL package will be available in February 2024.
