Micron 2550 SSD Specifications Announced: 232-Layer NAND, Read Speeds Up to 5000MB/s

        Micron has announced that it has shipped Micron 2550 NVMe solid state drives for mainstream notebooks and desktops to PC OEM customers worldwide. Now, Micron's website has published the detailed parameters of the SSD series.
 
 
        We understand that the SSDs use TLC particles and PCIe 4.0 protocol, with sequential read speeds of 5000MB/s, sequential write speeds of 4000MB/s, random read speeds of 550K IOPS, ready write speeds of 600K IOPS, and endurance of 600TBW for the 1TB version. 512GB and 256GB versions have slightly lower performance compared to the 1TB.
        According to Micron, the 2550 is "the world's first client SSD with 200+ layers of NAND technology," which outperforms the competition in terms of performance thanks to its storage density and power consumption, and its excellent responsiveness and low-power performance help users extend battery life for work and home PCs.
        Micron's innovative predictive cache optimization technology enhances the user experience and sets a new category record in the PCMark 10 benchmark test, according to Micron. Compared to the competition, the 2550 SSD transfers files 112 percent faster, runs office applications 67 percent faster, loads mainstream games 57 percent faster and runs content creation applications 78 percent faster. The product also offers blazing fast sequential read performance of up to 5GB per second and sequential write performance of 4GB per second, a 43% and 33% improvement over previous generation SSDs, respectively. 
        These innovations enable devices to consume less than 2.5 milliwatts in sleep mode, less than 150 milliwatts in idle mode and less than 5.5 watts in active mode.
