Samsung says the capacity of a single SSD can reach 1 PB (1024 TB) in the next decade

        On March 31, Samsung recently stated at the China Flash Memory Market Summit that the capacity of a single SSD could reach 1 PB in the next 10 years.
        Samsung stated that the increasingly mature physical scaling technology, logical scaling technology, and packaging technology are accelerating the development of 3D NAND, and it is expected that the capacity of a single SSD can reach up to 1 PB in the next decade.
Samsung said the new technology will further reduce the size of NAND flash memory cells and increase the number of layers, allowing each layer to store more data.
        Samsung has promoted the implementation of SSD technology in the past few years, taking the lead in mass production of 15.36TB SSD in 2016; In 2017, a 30.72TB product based on 3D TLC was launched.
        Samsung also demonstrated a 64TB SSD in 2019 and a 128TB prototype SSD based on 3D QLC NAND in 2021, but these devices have not yet entered the mass production stage.
