The Annual Growth Rate of NANDFlash Demand Bits in 2025 will be less than 30%

Client SSD has been a key player in driving global NAND Flash demand growth in the past two years. According to market research firm TrendForce, the penetration rate of Client SSD in notebook PCs will reach 92% in 2022 and 96% in 2023.
However, with the epidemic's "home economy" effect exiting the market and the overall poor economy leading to a sharp freeze in consumer electronics demand, Client SSDs will be the most obvious product to slow down demand in the future, which in turn will limit the overall NAND Flash demand bit growth, with an estimated annual growth rate of less than 30% from 2022 to 2025.
In terms of capacity, Client SSDs in 2022 will have a capacity of more than 500GB in laptops, and 512GB Client SSDs are similar to 256GB quoted six months ago after the recent rapid price drop, and even close to HDDs of the same capacity, making PC OEMs accelerate the adoption of 512GB capacity, but it is difficult to upgrade to 1TB or more SSD configurations, mainly due to the Windows system. License fee collection mechanism is positively correlated with the notebook configuration level, PC OEMs will bear the pressure of higher machine costs, passive attitude towards upgrading to 1TB or more capacity, also resulting in the future growth of single-unit equipped capacity is limited.
In the low-capacity segment, considering that the entry-level 128GB SSD market for notebooks will gradually decline, Microsoft will lead PC OEMs to import UFS, which has an advantageous price and comparable speed to SATA interface, as a configuration option, which may replace low-capacity Client SSD usage in the long run. However, TrendForce believes that due to the recent significant decline in SSDs, the price difference with UFS has narrowed, and platform hosts are not yet able to natively support UFS 3.1 speed, so PC OEMs do not see much incentive to import UFS without a significant price advantage.
