Vietnam's FPT has produced the country's first semiconductor chips. FPT Semiconductor, a subsidiary of Vietnamese technology company FPT, launched its first production line of semiconductor chips for medical devices on Wednesday as it seeks to enter the highly competitive global semiconductor industry.

FPT Semiconductor said in a statement that it aims to supply 25 million chips worldwide by 2023, with the United States, Japan and others as the main markets for the chips. The chips will be used in everything from consumer electronics to aerospace. Demand for these chips is high due to supply chain disruptions since the outbreak.
According to public information, FPT, formerly known as The Corporation for Financing and Promoting Technology (FPT), is the largest information technology services company in Vietnam, with its core business focused on providing ICT-related services.
According to the Vietnam Report 2021, FPT is the 16th largest private sector company in Vietnam, with revenues of VND356,570 billion in 2021, up 19.5% from 2020, and pre-tax profits of VND6,335 billion, up 20.4% from 2020.
FPT is the largest communications technology company in the private sector in Vietnam, with over 40,000 employees, including 17,728 technical staff, and 48 offices in 26 countries and territories overseas. At the same time, the FPT Group is a leader in Vietnam in a number of business areas including software export, systems integration, software development and information technology services.
The FPT Group's capabilities are recognised by over 700 major companies worldwide, as confirmed by a client list consisting of over 600 major companies worldwide, 100 of which are listed in the Global Fortune 500: Toshiba, Hitachi, Nissens, Deutsche Bank, Unilever, Panasonic, etc.
