Melexis Released Advanced Magnetic Position Sensor Chip

        Melexis, a global microelectronics engineering company, today announced a new magnetic position sensor chip, the MLX90376, with robust stray field immunity (SFI) for 360° rotating automotive applications. The device is the first stacked dual-chip PCB-free product to feature industry-leading sensing technology and supports ASIL Class D-compliant system integration, making it ideal for steering and valve applications. It combines stability and excellent performance, making it ideal for vehicle electrification applications.
 
 
        The MLX90376 is based on Melexis' proprietary technology and is part of the Triaxis? high-end family. The chip has a number of features for demanding steering wheel angle, throttle and thermal management valve applications. These features include: optional PCB-free stacked dual chip version; ASIL Class C Standalone Safety Cell (SEooC) to support ASIL D compliant system integration (ISO 26262); SFI up to 5mT (4000A/m) for 360° rotation applications (ISO 11452-8).
        This position sensor chip is available in an SMP-4 PCB-free or SMD package. The use of the SMP-4 package facilitates mechanical integration and accelerates development and design progress. The stacked dual chip is a major attraction compared to off-axis tolerances and is critical for applications such as electric power steering (EPS). SMD versions are available in SOIC-8 (for single chip) and TSSOP-16 (for dual chip) packages.
With an SFI of up to 5mT (4000A/m), the MLX90376 chip is suitable for 360° rotational applications (ISO 11452-8) and helps eliminate common sources of electromagnetic noise in electric vehicles.
