Nvidia bans others from using CUDA?Moore thread: not affected

March 6 news, recently, there is media attention, NVIDIA CUDA 11.6 and later versions of the EULA (End User License Agreement) in a certain clause mentioned: "You can not reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble any results generated using this SDK and transpose them on non-NVIDIA platforms."

This clause was not in the EULA documentation for previous installations of CUDA 11.4 and 11.5, a C-based programming framework from NVIDIA that allows developers to write and run general-purpose programs on GPUs. NVIDIA's GPUs are particularly adept at performing highly parallelized computational tasks, and the ability to achieve this parallel computing relies heavily on CUDA technology and the wide range of applications and developer communities that have been built on CUDA.
In fact, since 2021, NVIDIA has prohibited the use of conversion layers to run CUDA-based software on other hardware platforms in its license terms listed online, but the previous warning did not include documentation placed on the host system during installation. As a result, NVIDIA's sudden move against CUDA 11.6 and higher has sparked widespread concern in the industry. Some industry insiders have interpreted NVIDIA's move as, "The restriction seems to be aimed at stopping programs such as ZLUDA, which Intel and AMD have recently been involved in (ZLUDA was born in 2020, and was originally designed to allow NVIDIA's CUDA technology to run on non-NVIDIA graphics processors), and more importantly to prevent some Chinese GPU vendors from utilizing CUDA code with the help of a conversion layer. to utilize CUDA code."
Moore Threads, one of the Chinese GPU designers, released a statement emphasizing that Moore Threads MUSA/MUSIFY is not affected. Moore Threads MUSA/MUSIFY does not involve the terms of NVIDIA's EULA, and developers can use it with confidence. Moore Threads said, MUSA is Moore Threads independent research and development, owns all intellectual property rights, software and hardware integration of full-featured GPU advanced computing unified system architecture, and CUDA does not have any dependency.
MUSIFY is a development tool provided by Moore Threads for the majority of MUSA developers to facilitate the porting and development of applications on the MUSA computing platform, which allows developers to convert their own C++ source code into MUSA C++ source code, and then generate binary code based on the MUSA instruction set through the MCC compiler, which will ultimately be run on the full-featured GPUs of Moore Threads. GPU. Currently, NVIDIA has only added warning clauses to the CUDA 11.6 protocol, with no actual action yet.
