Samsung Electronics announced to cooperate with NAVER to develop large-scale AI chips

On December 6, news: Samsung Electronics released a press release on its official website today to announce that it has carried out extensive cooperation with NAVER, a global Internet company with first-class AI technology, to develop semiconductor solutions tailored for large-scale AI models.
Using Samsung's next-generation memory technology, such as computing storage, in memory processing (PIM) and approximate memory processing (PNM), as well as Compute Express Link (CXL), the two companies intend to pool their hardware and software resources to significantly accelerate the processing of large-scale AI workloads. Recently, the development of large-scale artificial intelligence has led to an exponential growth in the amount of data to be processed.
However, the performance and efficiency constraints of current computing systems pose a major challenge to meeting these onerous computing requirements, which has fuelled the demand for new AI optimized semiconductor solutions.
Samsung said that the development of such solutions requires extensive integration of semiconductor and artificial intelligence disciplines. Samsung is combining its semiconductor design and manufacturing expertise with NAVER's experience in the development and validation of AI algorithms and AI driven services to create solutions that will raise the performance and power efficiency of large-scale AI to a new level.
